Benefits of Lentils
Lentils have been associated with human food for thousands of years. West Asia is believed to have been the site for the first of its kind. They are available in a variety of colors including green, brown, red, black, orange, etc.
The color, shape, and size of the lenses vary depending on the type of lens. However, in particular, all types of lentil are available year-round. New lenses cannot be used for use. The use of lentil helps to lower cholesterol. Lentil diet fiber helps lower cholesterol. The high amount of folate and magnesium in lentils prevents damage to the walls of the cardiovascular artery. Due to its iron content, it is known as a good energy supplier. It provides slow and stable energy that prevents sudden rise in blood sugar after a meal. Some studies say that dill is effective in preventing breast cancer.
Lentil has a cool flavor and tastes great when cooked with strong spices. Lentils, in general, retain their shape after cooking, but you can easily beat them, if properly cooked. No need to soak the lenses. Unlike beans and peas, you can cook them at any time without any prior preparation.
Larger lenses take longer to cook and vice versa. You should always remember that salt lowers the speed of cooking. So, only add salt when you have finished cooking. One cup of dried lentils will produce 3 cups of these cooked ones. Lentils absorb some flavors and spices. Therefore, if cooked with flavors that are guaranteed, they will give the best taste.
When buying lentils, make sure there are no insect damage, and they do not crack. Remove foreign articles, shiny lenses and debris. Rinse thoroughly in water and drain the water completely. Spread it in a bowl or cloth and let it dry. Once dried, they are ready to cook.
How to cook:
Take the sauce pan. Add enough water to it. Use 3 cups of water in one cup of lentils. Allow the water to boil vigorously and add the cleaned and dried lentils to it. It is better to put dal in boiling water than to boil it with water. Green lenses usually take about 30 minutes while red lenses take about 20 minutes.
Determine the strength according to the container you will use these lenses. Soups and salads require a strong texture while carrots need smaller lentils. When the desired results are achieved, remove the pan from the heat.
Do not throw away hot water immediately. Water-absorbing lentils make them watery and delicious. Leave them in hot water for a few minutes and discard the water. Avoid using this discarded water in preparing the final meal as it may change the color of the final dish and may leave a foul odor.
You can add these lentils with your favorite herbs and spices. Fresh lemon juice, vinegar, really effective herbs and lentils. Add salt after the lentils are completely cooked otherwise it will make them hard and firm. Older lentils take longer to cook. Therefore, do not mix old and new lenses. It may give an unequal result.
You can use these cooked lentils in any of the recipes including rice, soups or curries.
Storage:
Dry lentils have a longer shelf if stored properly. It is considered a staple food for its strength. The color may fade over time, but the quality will remain the same with a few changes.
Cooked lentils can be used even after one week of cooking. Just be sure to put them in the refrigerator in an airtight container. Frozen lentils stored in an airtight container can be used even after six months. However, it may adversely affect their taste and quality.
