Chianti Wines: Tuscany's Best Tastings

Home to the world-famous Chianti region, Tuscany is a popular place among wine aficionados. This region not only produces the finest wines in the country, it is also one of the most beautiful places in Tuscany. As it begins to surround the amazing cities of Florence and Siena, as well as Arezzo and Pisa, the area is vast, which means a lot to see - and to taste!

The history of the place is rich and wonderful - almost like its unknown drink. The first place of wine was noted there in the eighteenth century, however, in the late 1970's (after it became unpopular) corrupt winemakers began producing outside the official area. It took time, but in the end, the rules for making local wine were revised to allow for a certain number of grapes abroad.

Although this place offers a sensory feast, if you are driven by time, the Chianti trip from Florence is a great way to immerse your toes in the wonderful world of their wine-making culture. Taking a day trip or part of a day is a great opportunity to learn a little about local history and teach your palate about the differences between Florentine and Sienese Chianti (both are fun).

Before diving, this is a beginner's guide to the most popular things to try in Tuscany!

Sangiovese

You can not make a tour here and not try Sangiovese. It is in the middle of a winepress in a clear, vibrant color and chopped cherries notes with acid irrigating the mouth.

DOGC

There are many rules that come with Italian wine, especially this one! After modernization in the 70's, the name earned the highest level of Italian wine category: Denominazione di Origine Controllata in Garantita (DOCG). Then in 1996, Chianti Classico and DOGC became their separate constituencies.

DOGC requires a minimum of 70% Sangiovese and a maximum of 10% white Malvasia and Trebbiano white grapes. Grapes from all over the region (except the Classico zone) can be mixed with wine, which is made to be fresh and fresh.

Classico DOGC

Produced in the heart of the region, wines of this brand are considered the highest quality offered in this part of the country and are a must-have for anyone considering a trip to Chianti from Florence. Notable for its refreshing acidity, Classico DOGC is usually made from grapes grown higher than DOGC. You will see the flavors of spice and cherry juice and the tannins grow in quality. Today, they are much older than oak boxes, resulting in a much clearer liquid.

Chianti Rufina

Although relatively small in size, this area is considered to offer the best quality wines, after Classico. Far from the coast and high altitude, Sangiovese is able to mature slowly. This causes aqueous acidity and is unstable.

This is just a glimpse of the fascinating world of Tuscan wines. For more information, booking a trip to Chianti from Florence by local guide is highly recommended. Having someone from the region to talk to you about everything will make the place lively and make your trip even more memorable.
